HOW TO LICENSE YOUR VOICE FOR AI

Voice cloning made every voice copyable. Licensing is how yours gets paid instead of taken.

Why voices are in demand

AI speech is everywhere: narration, game dialogue, assistant personas, dubbed and localised content. What the models need is source voices with actual character, and what the companies deploying them increasingly need is proof the voice was licensed. High-profile disputes over cloned voices have made unlicensed voice a liability no serious product wants.

A voice does not need to be a trained broadcast instrument to be valuable. Accents, ages and textures of all kinds are wanted, for the same reason crowd scenes want everyday faces: believability comes from variety.

How licensing works

On Actorsy, voice is a consent category like any other. You enable it, set your rate, and upload samples. Buyers browse talent who allow voice work, review samples, and license for a defined use: narration, character dialogue, a presenter persona or a training data set. Each licence generates a contract recording that scope, and you are paid per licence.

Typical fees run £500 to £3,500 for voice performance, and £1,000 to £10,000 or more where a voice contributes to an AI training data set. Because each licence is scoped, your voice can do narration for one buyer and game dialogue for another under separate contracts.

Keeping control

The same protections that apply to your face apply to your voice: granular consent, a contract on every use, and the right to withdraw from future licensing at any time. If a use is not in the contract, it is not permitted, and cloning outside a licence is exactly the behaviour the documented consent chain exists to expose.

Common questions

Do I need professional recording equipment?

Clean, clear samples matter more than studio gear. A quiet room and a decent microphone are enough to demonstrate what your voice offers; production-grade capture can be arranged per project where a licence requires it.

Can I license my voice but not my face?

Yes. Consent categories are independent. Plenty of talent enable voice work while keeping other categories switched off.

What stops a buyer using my voice beyond the licence?

The contract defines the permitted scope, term and territory, and every licence is logged. Use outside it is a breach with a paper trail, which is precisely what makes licensed voices attractive to legitimate buyers.
